As those who know him or have read his Sheer Dance column can attest, Joel loves to dance! A member of the University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Club Competition Team for 4 years, president for 2, he has become an active member of the partner dance community in the Twin Cities. Joel is known for being quick to laugh and genuinely curious about the lives and passions of his fellow dancers. His most recent competitive successes include 1st place in Gold Smooth, 2nd place in Gold Rhythm, and 6th in Gold Standard at the 2016 USA Dance National Championships. He has also seen success in West Coast Swing, where he competes in the Intermediate division. A paleo-anthropologist by training, Joel also loves exploring the potential of the human form as it relates to dance. Excited and honored to be starting this new adventure, he looks forward to dancing with all of those who call Dancers Studio home.

Joel is an accomplished West Coast Swing dancer. He is well known around the studio for his teaching of dance technique, not just new patterns; skills crucial in the highly improvisational West Coast Swing Jack & Jill competitions. Take a look at Joel in action on the dance floor where he and his partner, Exenia Rocco, won 3rd place at the Spotlight Dance Celebration 2015-2016 Intermediate Jack & Jill.
